The opening video package shows a recap of last week's Explosion. The video recaps Jacob Fatu chokeslamming Solo Sikoa, after his match, Chelsea Green cheating to win the Women's United States championship, Bron Breakker and CM Punk signing the contract for New Year's Revolution for their 2 out of 3 Falls match for the Undisputed WWE championship, and Brock Lesnar returning and attacking CM Punk. The final shot of the video shows a laid-out CM Punk, with Michael Cole saying, "Brock's back and CM Punk is in trouble..."
In the ring, kicking off the show, CM Punk calls out Brock Lesnar, demanding that Brock Lesnar get his ass to the ring now. Punk, who is visibly hurt, awaits Lesnar; however, Paul Heyman comes out instead, to the boos of the WWE universe. Punk, who is rolling his eyes, says, "Me and you both know that Lesnar didn't come back to make a statement, he came back to do your dirty work, Paul". Heyman says, "Lesnar is not your concern — Bron Breakker is". Punk fires back that Heyman just turned the Wolfpack into the Paul Heyman Protection Program.
William comes out and says Brock Lesnar’s actions will be addressed with Paul Heyman tonight, with Heyman pretending to be offended. Suddenly, Bron Breakker storms out, through the crowd, and spears Punk out of his boots. Heyman watches with a smug grin as referees pull Bron away.
Commentators try to bring focus back to the show. They recap the rivalry between the Miz and Ilja Dragunov, including Aleister Black helping Miz beat Ilja last week. They hype the opening match next, with the Miz getting a US title shot to open up the show.
COMMERCIAL BREAK
After the match, Aleister Black attacks Ilja Dragunov from behind, hitting him with Black Mass, knocking him out. As the Miz gets up, he leans on Aleister Black, after realizing that Black has laid out Dragunov, the Miz starts laughing. Aleister smiles at Miz, before his smile turns into anger, hitting the Black Mass on the Miz as well.
Backstage, Jade Cargill is talking to Chelsea Green, asking her if she wants to be her tag team partner tonight. Chelsea Green says: "Eh, no. I have a celebration tonight to mark my becoming the United States champion... AGAIN!!!" Chelsea tells Jade to find somebody else to bother! Jade seems pissed, whispering, "That little bitch!"
Commentators wonder who Jade will pair with as her partner, as they hype the tag team match for later tonight!
Commentators also recap the rivalry between the Street Profits and the Tongas, with William telling both teams to choose opponents for each other to face tonight. Byron Saxton announces that the Tongas have selected the Creed Brothers to face the Street Profits.

After the break, in William's office, William tells Paul Heyman that Brock doesn't have a contract, and he's lucky that CM Punk didn't press charges like Drew McIntyre did Nicholas Simpson over on Warriors. Heyman says that Lesnar doesn't need a contract. William asks Heyman if Lesnar plans to be in the arena tonight; Heyman says he doesn't know what Lesnar is doing, and he has nothing to do with what the beast incarnate does. William warns Heyman that if Lesnar attacks any of his superstars tonight, not only will he have Lesnar arrested, but he'll have Heyman arrested as well for helping Lesnar. Heyman says that's not fair. William tells him, Life's not fair, adding, and you know what else won't be fair? Heyman angrily says, And what's that? William says, You having to be somebody's bitch in jail. Heyman is shocked as William motions for him to get out of his office. Heyman walks away, pissed.
After the match, the Tongas jump the barricade, attacking the Street Profits, with both Tonga and Tama hitting their finishers on Montez and Angelo. The Tongas hold the tag team titles over their head, as the WWE universe boos loudly!
Backstage, Jade Cargill asks Zelina Vega to be her tag team partner tonight. Zelina seems in agreement; however, when Aliester Black walks up, he whispers something in Zelina's ear. Zelina starts smiling. Aliester walks away, smacking Zelina on the butt, as she stares at Aleister walking away. Jade says, So you'll be my partner tonight? Zelina, who comes out of her gaze, says, Sorry, boo, I'll be busy, as she walks away extremely happy. Jade screams damn, as she looks frantic.
Commentators laugh, wondering if Jade will find a partner at all.
Chelasea Green and Kiana James are shown laughing backstage. In the ring, the production crew is setting up decorations for Chelsea Green's celebration, as Michael Cole and Byron Saxton seem annoyed by the celebration, with Corey Graves telling both of them to appreciate the greatness of Chelsea, as he hypes the celebration, next!

After the break, Nia Jax and Lash Legend are talking when Jade Cargill walks up, asking if either one of them can be her tag team partner tonight. Both look at each other, laughing. Jade asks what's funny. Nia says that she and Lash have business to take care of, including talking to William about getting a tag team title shot. Jade asks what does that have to do with either of them being her partner tonight. Lash says, We just don't want to, as they walk away laughing. Jade seems pissed.
In the ring, Kiana James says that everyone should stand up and honor their new Women's United States champion, Chelsea Green, who makes her way to the ring. Kiana says that she made a promise to Chelsea Green to make sure she gets her championship back, and she succeeded. Kiana says that's enough about her, though, adding that before she turns it over to the greatest women's United States champion of all-time, any woman in the back who needs help to become great needs to get one of her business cards, because Chelsea Green is proof that the Kiana James management group works wonders. Kiana bows as she hands Chelsea Green the microphone. Chelsea says that she's honored to be the champion again and represent the United States of America. Chelsea says that she thinks she will talk to the president to see if we can now call it the United States of Chelsea, seeing as though she's the greatest representative in the United States. Just as the WWE universe boos loudly, and Chelsea is about to say something else, Tiffany Stratton comes out, interrupting. Tiffany says that if Chelsea Green thinks this is over, she is as delusional as everyone knows she is. Tiffany says that after she takes care of that delusional business manager, Kiana James, she's coming for her US title again.
Commentators hype the match next as the production crew starts removing the decorations from the ring, with Chelsea Green throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of the ring, as Kiana James tries to calm her down!

After the break, Michael Cole announces that William will address the WWE universe later tonight.
Backstage, Solo Sikoa is talking to the Tongas as they prepare for their upcoming match, as they await to see who the Street Profits have chosen for them to wrestle! Jacob Fatu walks up as the Tongas get in his face. Solo tells the Tongas to back down as he approaches Fatu, getting in his face. Solo says, What's good? Jacob says that he knows Solo wants to get his lick back after that chokeslam last week. Solo says, You think one chokeslam makes you the man? Jacob smirks, saying, No, but kicking your ass does. Solo and Jacob start arguing, inaudibly, with William demanding they back up, as he yells for security to break them up. William says, since you two want to fight so badly, you can do it on the first episode of the New Year in a Last Man Standing match! The WWE universe goes wild as commentators are stoked about that match.
Commentators hype the Tongas vs the team, the Street Profits chose for them to face, Fraxiom, announcing that the match is coming up next!

After the break, Jade is frantically still searching for a partner. B Fab and Diamond White walk up, with Diamond saying, Looks like you're still all alone. B Fab adds, No one likes you and no one wants to team with you. Jade says, You know what, even if I have to go it alone, I can kick both of y'all asses, because I'm that bitch. Diamond White smirks, saying, You might be that bitch, but tonight I make you my bitch, as she walks away, with B Fab smirking and Jade standing there looking pissed.
Backstage, William Taylor is on the phone when he sees Jade walking by. William tells the person on the phone to hold on as he asks Jade if she's found an opponent. Jade says no, saying she could do it alone if she wants. William says that there is one option she probably hasn't thought about. Jade says And who is that? William points towards the basement as Jade says really. William shrugs as he starts talking on the phone again, walking away. Jade shrugs as she walks down the hallway with signs saying basement this way!
Commentators are a little confused about what is happening as they hype the main event next!

In the ring, after the break, William is in the ring, he says that as we prepare for New Year's Revolution next Saturday, we need to discuss what is happening on next week's episode of Explosion. He says that, as reported by news outlets around the world, Explosion will be going back to a 3-hour show, and with that, next week, things will be very explosive! William says, as announced earlier tonight, Jacob Fatu will go one-on-one with Solo Sikoa in a Last Man Standing match. William says before New Year's Revolution, Nikki Bella and Guilia are guaranteed a Women's Tag Team title match, and they will get that opportunity next week against whoever wins the tag team titles at Armageddon tomorrow night. William says that after the numerous attacks by Santos Escobar, he will face Mohammad Rabid in a Hardcore match. William says that after talking with Mercedes Winters, he has come to terms on signing a few NXT free agents, which include Ace Young, who will face the man he attacked last week, Sheamus. William says, and finally, with a new year comes new opportunities, and I will be giving two superstars an opportunity. Next week, there will be 2 fresh start battle royals, and the winner of those battle royals will get a title shot at the Undisputed WWE champion and the WWE Women's champion at Saturday Night's Main Event, later this month! The WWE universe goes wild as William interacts with the WWE universe.

As cameras show William making his way up the ramp, still high-fiving fans and signing autographs, the arena goes dark, and when they slowly come back on, Brock Lesnar's music hits.
Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring, followed by Paul Heyman, who is begging him not to touch anyone, including William, whom he passes on his way to the ring.
Before anything can be said, CM Punk walks on the stage, addressing Lesnar. Punk says, "You cheap-shotted me. Now do it to my face." Brock Lesnar smiles and mouths: “Soon.” Bron Breakker appears behind Punk… and spears him, with both men falling off the ramp. Brock watches, amused.
Heyman checks on Breakker, looking down from the ramp, as medics rush to check on Punk and Breakker. Breakker gets up, but Punk is visibly hurt.
The screen starts to flicker as the Wyatt Sicks appear on screen. Uncle Howdy says, "Brock is chaos… Punk is pride… and we are the reckoning", as the lights flicker and Explosion goes off the air!
